We're pleased to share that Empty Property Hunters has been featured in the Echo News, covering the story of one of Southend's most overlooked properties – and how our network helped bring it back from the brink.

The two-bedroom home on Stuart Road had stood empty since 2016, its overgrown garden and darkened windows a familiar but forlorn sight for neighbours. That changed in July 2024, when one of our local property hunters spotted the derelict house and flagged it to our team.

Our founder Simon described the moment:

"It was just a forgotten home, quietly gathering dust for almost a decade until one of our local property hunters spied the dilapidated two bed in July 2024."

Tracing the owner proved to be quite the detective story – they were discovered living in rural South Africa, having inherited the property and held onto it as a financial hedge. Empty Property Hunters has since acquired the home and will shortly begin refurbishment works to transform it into a comfortable, modern home for a Southend family.

The property hunter who made the initial find earned £2,000 commission from the sale – a real-world example of what's possible through our network. With £10 million in available funds and capacity to purchase up to 100 properties a year, we're on a mission to breathe new life into forgotten homes and the communities around them.
