Featured in the Ealing Times: How One Dad Earned £3,000 Spotting Empty Homes

We have been featured in the Ealing Times, shining a spotlight on Paul Dixon – a Lincoln-based leaflet distributor and dad of one who stumbled into one of the most straightforward side hustles going.

Paul, 49, began noticing the sheer number of vacant properties on his daily rounds and decided to do something about it. Using just his phone, he photographs homes that look like they've been empty for years and submits them to us. He earns £20 for every qualifying property, and 1% of the purchase price if a home goes on to be sold through the company's network. Last year alone he earned around £2,500 (pushing his total close to £3,000) with a single weekend trip to Grimsby yielding around 200 potential empty home sightings.

Rather than spending the money on everyday bills, Paul used his earnings to treat his wife Karen to a luxury Dublin break. Hotel suite, racing hospitality and all.

"It was the best holiday. It mattered more because I made this money from my little side venture – and I wanted to make a memory with it."

Paul is keen to point out that no special skills or extra time are needed. "They're all over the place these days. It takes just 30 seconds to snap an empty home and you could earn £20, or much, much more if you're lucky."
