Empty Property Hunters has been featured in the Daily Star once again, this time spotlighting the remarkable story of one of our Hunters, Paul Dixon, a Lincoln-based leaflet distributor who turned his sharp eye into a seriously lucrative side hustle.

Paul, 49, began noticing the sheer number of vacant properties on his daily rounds and decided to do something about it. Armed with just his phone, he photographed hundreds of long-term empty homes across Lincoln and beyond, reporting each one to us and earning £20 per verified property.

When two of those homes were purchased, Paul was rewarded 1% of the purchase price and his total climbed to nearly £3,000 – enough to treat his wife Karen to a luxury trip to the Dublin Racing Festival, complete with a hotel suite, Guinness factory tour and a weekend to remember.

"It takes just 30 seconds to snap an empty home and you could earn £20 – or much, much more" – Paul

The feature also shines a spotlight on the Daily Star's ongoing Sherlock Homes campaign, which Empty Property Hunters is proud to be part of. With more than 250,000 long-term empty homes across England, the campaign is calling on readers across the country to become amateur property detectives, reporting vacant homes, helping ease the housing crisis and potentially earning 1% of the sale price in the process.

Our founder Simon summed it up simply:

"It's about neighbours, communities and thousands of homes sitting empty during a housing crisis."

Paul's story also caught the attention of regional press across the country, with the story being picked up by Grimsby Telegraph, Somerset Live, Buckinghamshire Live, Lincolnshire Live, Essex Live, Plymouth Herald, Kent Live and the Hull Daily Mail – a sign of just how widely the empty homes issue resonates right across the country.
